WHAT TO EXPECT
Sunday Mornings
Profile
Age-wise, we have a good mix of all age groups. Sunday morning attendance is around 75-80 people. Dress trends toward business-casual, though you will see everything from jeans to suits. People are friendly, though we encourage you to be bold and introduce yourself.
Beginning
On Sunday morning at 9:30 am we come together for an hour for Sunday school, in which we learn God’s Word and its application to all areas of life. Following that, we begin our Sunday worship service at 10:45 am.
Music
The music we sing at TBC is a blend of old and new. We love the powerful hymns of the Reformation and Evangelical Awakenings as well as doctrinally-rich modern choruses. We prefer congregational singing, which emphasizes the gathered body singing praise to God with one voice, over performed music, though occasionally we will include a solo number.
Body of Service
Our service formally begins at 10:45 am, usually led by our pastor. During this time, we sing several songs, offer prayers of praise and confession to God, hear Scripture read, and give our offerings and tithes.
Sermons
Preaching at TBC is generally expositional, meaning that it seeks to explain and apply a particular passage of the Bible. Sermons usually last around 45 minutes and strive to include exegesis (detailed explanation of the text), doctrinal teaching, exhortation, and application. On a regular basis, our sermon series alternates between the Old and New Testaments. All preaching is filtered through the Gospel, the Bible’s main message of God saving sinners through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
Post Sermon
We sing a hymn corresponding to the theme of the sermon and then hear a Scriptural benediction from our pastor, upon which the congregation replies, “Amen”. A typical service is finished by 12:15 pm. After the service people often linger for fellowship, discussing the sermon or the events of the past week.
